It takes a certain type of musician to try and meld West Coast rap with L.A. hipster vibes, but young talent ROY seems to understand how the two fit together perfectly. His new single 'Thunder', which sees Brockhampton's Bearface in the producing seat, is fusion music at its best borrowing laid-back guitars from indie, reams of relaxed verses from rap and snappy percussion from the jazzy genres. At over 5 mins, the track is something of an epic but ROY ensures you don't get bored by mixing up the styles and keeping us guessing at each turn. With Mac DeMarco influences, ROY tackles a lot and pulls it all off with thunderous applause from us. - SJ
